Portraits of Men Crying is an exploration and examination of masculinity; dispelling any notion that men shouldn’t be afforded the autonomy to show sensitivity, vulnerability or cry. Colorful, interluding oil and water installations inform the collision of modern taboos around men’s tears with the acceptance, affirmation and need for vulnerability. These carefully constructed moments ground us, force us to reckon with the inner voice asking “why am I uncomfortable seeing this?”
